The Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), World’s largest student organisation, concluded its two-day meeting held on August 1–2, 2026, at Ernakulam, Kerala, the sacred birthplace of Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya. The meeting witnessed extensive deliberations on organisational priorities, key national issues and ABVP’s roadmap for the coming year.
The Central Working Committee expressed serious concern over recurring question paper leaks in competitive examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Punjab and several other states. Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to students’ rights, ABVP extended its full support to the legitimate demands and democratic movements of affected students. The organisation also appealed to social and student organisations, educationists and responsible citizens to actively participate in and strengthen this nationwide movement for examination reforms. ABVP reiterated that every student has the right to a fair, transparent, credible and merit-based examination system. Highlighting its proactive intervention in Jharkhand, the organisation noted that it was the first to submit a detailed memorandum to the Governor immediately after reports of the paper leak surfaced, followed by statewide signature campaigns and demonstrations across district headquarters. Stressing that deeper institutional reforms are still required to eliminate examination malpractices, ABVP announced that it will submit a comprehensive set of recommendations before the High-Powered Committee constituted by the Government of India following the NEET examination irregularities to help establish a robust, transparent and error-free examination framework across the country.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of ABVP’s flagship national campaigns. It resolved to expand the “Screen Time to Activity Time” initiative alongside the nationwide “Vande Mataram @150 Years: Campus to Campus Vande Mataram” campaign across educational institutions. As part of the Independence Day celebrations, ABVP will organise Tiranga Rallies, the “Ek Gaanv- Ek Tiranga” campaign and community singing of Vande Mataram throughout the country. Welcoming Parliament’s passage of the National Honour (Prevention of Insults) Amendment Bill, 2026, granting legal protection to Vande Mataram, the Central Working Committee described the legislation as a historic milestone in preserving India’s national consciousness, the legacy of the freedom movement and the nation’s cultural identity. The meeting also finalised programmes commemorating the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Ravidas Ji, the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the 50th anniversary of the Anti-Emergency Movement. Detailed discussions were held on the All India Hostel Survey, the 72nd National Conference, SEIL@60, Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Yuva Puraskar, international student outreach, overseas engagement, organisational expansion and strengthening a culture of training and capacity building.

The repeated question paper leaks in competitive examinations in Jharkhand, Bihar, Karnataka and Punjab have raised serious concerns about the credibility of India’s examination system. ABVP fully supports the legitimate demands and democratic movements of students. Every student has the right to a fair, transparent, credible and error-free examination system. With this objective, ABVP will submit detailed recommendations before the High-Powered Committee constituted by the Government of India following the NEET examination irregularities, advocating the institutional reforms necessary to strengthen the country’s examination framework. Parliament’s decision to provide legal protection to Vande Mataram is a historic milestone in preserving India’s national consciousness, the glorious legacy of the freedom movement and the country’s cultural identity. Vande Mataram is not merely the National Song; it is an enduring symbol of India’s freedom struggle and national self-respect. Through the ‘Vande Mataram @150 Years: Campus to Campus Vande Mataram’ campaign, the ‘Ek Gaanv–Ek Tiranga’ initiative, Tiranga Rallies and community singing of Vande Mataram, ABVP will promote patriotism, national unity and awareness of constitutional duties across educational campuses and society. As this Central Working Committee meeting has been held in the sacred land of Keralam, ABVP has also resolved to accord special organisational focus to the state. In the coming months, the organisation will intensify the ‘Campus to Campus Vande Mataram’ campaign and the ‘Screen Time to Activity Time’ initiative across educational institutions in Keralam, inspiring students towards patriotism, physical activity, leadership and constructive campus engagement. We are confident that every ABVP Karyakarta will carry forward the resolutions adopted by the Central Working Committee with active public participation, further strengthening our commitment to transforming student power into national power.”
