New Delhi: Keeping in view the lockdown enforced to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, ABVP has requested its state units as well as students across the nation to donate blood at their nearest hospital. ABVP understands its social responsibilities in such difficult times and several of its units have undertaken blood donation drives at various places, acting upon the request and under the supervision of respective local administrations. Alongwith donations, multiple blood donors’ directories will also be prepared by ABVP state units, who will be ready to respond in any emergency situation.
Srilekha, National Convener, ABVP’s Students For Seva, said, “Due to the ongoing lockdown, people are unable to approach hospitals for voluntary blood donations, which has resulted in reduced inventories that is why we have taken this initiative to appeal to more and more people to donate blood. We will connect with local hospitals and facilitate blood donation in co-ordination with local Administration.”
Nidhi Tripathi, National General Secretary, ABVP, said, “Our activists and volunteers have come forward and undertaken blood donation when requested by several blood banks. To ensure the availability of blood across blood banks and to the patients in need during lockdown, ABVP Shimla, when specifically requested by the local administration, has already organized a blood donation camp under its supervision.”
