ABVP believes that the Central government’s announcement of extending the lockdown till 3 May 2020 to check the spread of COVID-19 is vitally important. It is an indispensable step to prevent the loss of countless lives in the country. Preparedness as well as responsiveness on part of the state and central government machinery and cooperation from the citizenry will surely help India contain and reverse this pandemic.

The Prime Minister, in his address to the nation, has asked the people to care for the elderly, observe physical distancing, follow immunity-boosting measures, download the Aarogya Setu
mobile application, assist the poor and the needy, look after the welfare of one’s employees, and appreciate the efforts of the frontline warriors including the law-enforcement personnel, medical staff, sanitation workers, and others. These measures will help us bridge over this crisis until a more permanent solution is discovered.

Nidhi Tripathi, National General Secretary, ABVP, said, “While the citizens have exhibited remarkable awareness and discipline, the government too has acted with exceptional in taking the edge off this worldwide contagion. It was crucial to draw out the lockdown as part of the comprehensive response to the crisis. Although many districts have reported no COVID-19 infections, there are several where the number of positive cases have registered a steep rise, thereby necessitating enforcement of all the containment measures, especially obedience to the rule of physical distancing. We must remain united and hopeful in the face of this unprecedented adversity. We will overcome this, together.”
