Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad mourns the death of migrant workers, who lost their lives when a wagon ran over them while sleeping on rail tracks, in the gruesome tragedy in Aurangabad. ABVP extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
Aniket Ovhal, National Secretary, ABVP, said, “What happened in Aurangabad is extremely tragic and gut wrenching. Government must take concrete steps for the welfare of the labourers and must extend all possible help to them. Substantial steps to prevent such disasters are the need of the hour. The Central Government, the State Government and the Railway Ministry must also extend financial help to the families of the victims and take upon themselves the responsibility of education of the children of the deceased.”
Nidhi Tripathi, National General Secretary, ABVP, said,” The workers and the labourers are faced with a string of problems due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic and such accidents on top of that are a cause of further distress to all of us. ABVP demands that all state governments make travel arrangements for the labourers via railways so that they don’t have to take extreme steps like walking back home. ABVP also demands that the Central Government and the State Government address the issues being faced by migrant labourers and that an independent inquiry be held into this accident.”
