Shilong| As a responsible student organisation ,the ABVP Meghalaya constituted a task force to gain insights on the problems faced by the students of the state and also held discussions with various academicians across the state. Based on the feedback received from various sources, the ABVP Meghalaya, on 28th June, 2020 met with His Excellency, Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya Shri Tathagata Roy with suggestions to be implemented in educational institutes post lockdown.
The suggestions include mainly; course distribution in such a manner that the final semester students should not suffer a loss and the course in the lower semesters could be redistributed in the higher semesters for proper completion of syllabus. It has also been suggested that classes should initially start for IX, X, XI & XII standards and the School Management should ensure that teachers are always accessible to students through online media in all possible terms. A partial fee waiver has also been suggested for both public and private educational institutes and also the release of all pending student’s scholarships in all the School,UG and PG levels at once. It has also been suggested that there shouldn’t be power cut & any network issue in places of online classes.
Proper evaluation should be there with relevant content wise quizzes and assignments before promoting the students. Restructuring the syllabus for proper completion and inclusion of local language in addition to English and Hindi is on the “online content” has also been suggested. While reframing the academic calendar, the condition of extreme winter in the state should be paid attention.
Finally, in post lockdown period, the education department might apt to adopt a dual model of learning ;offline and online to benefit the students focussing on the govt.guidelines to compensate the lost golden time.
