All 32 activists including National General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Nidhi Tripathi, National Secretary Muthu Ramalingam and National Secretary Harikrishna Nagothu, who were put in jail by the Tamil Nadu government by misusing the constitutional powers, were granted bail today by the Hon’ble Court in the peaceful demonstration case in front of the Chief Minister’s residence.

It is to be noted that ABVP, under the leadership of National General Secretary, Nidhi Tripathi, was fighting all over the country for justice to Lavanya, a student who committed suicide at Sacred Hearts School in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu due to pressure of conversion to Christianity, following which, 31 other karyakartas, including her, were arrested during a peaceful protest outside the Chief Minister’s residence of Tamil Nadu, and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

ABVP’s National Secretary kum. Prerna Pawar said, “The decision of the Hon’ble Court against this authoritarian attitude of the government is going to be far-reaching. ABVP is committed to taking Lavanya’s fight to justice.”

ABVP National Secretary Rakesh Das said, “The demand for justice for Lavanya is getting stronger and more determined after every atrocious move of the DMK government which has indulged in communal appeasement. We will raise the demand for justice for Lavanya more vigorously and the youngsters of the entire nation will stop this fight only after culprits of Lavanya get punished.”
