In light of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized a press conference on Thursday. ABVP appealed to all Delhi University students to make the mandatory use of their voting rights. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad urged students to seize this opportunity to understand their rights and contribute to becoming responsible citizens.

ABVP candidates are competing for all four positions in this year’s DUSU elections. Tushar Dedha is running for the position of President, Sushant Dhankad for Vice President, Aprajita for Secretary, and Sachin Baisla for Joint Secretary. In the DUSU elections, ABVP’s candidates have effectively campaigned by highlighting student issues, conducting effective outreach, and showcasing ABVP’s track record.

Shivangi Kharwal, the former Joint Secretary of DUSU and the girls’ coordinator of ABVP Delhi, stated, “New opportunities are emerging for women’s leadership in the country, and in recent years, ABVP’s panel has provided leadership opportunities to Delhi University students. ABVP will secure victory in DUSU by addressing fundamental issues such as the construction of girls’ hostels, the restoration and renewal of sanitary napkin vending machines, ensuring women’s safety, and promoting equal leadership opportunities for women.”

Harsh Attri, ABVP Delhi State Secretary, remarked, “ABVP has always been the voice of DU students. Currently, more than 90% of the students IIT are new to DU, and ABVP appeals to them to exercise their voting rights. ABVP’s campaign has been very positive, focusing on DU’s infrastructure development, resolving examination-related issues, and addressing mental health concerns. ABVP encourages students to vote based on these issues.”

Ashutosh Singh, the National Media Convener of ABVP, commented, “The manner in which NSUI has resorted to violence on a large scale at various colleges, including Ramjas College, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, Miranda House College, and Dayal Singh College during the DUSU elections, is alarming. ABVP, along with DU students, will stand against NSUI’s hooliganism.”

ABVP remains committed to empowering students and creating a conducive academic environment within Delhi University. With the DUSU elections approaching, the organization calls upon all students to exercise their democratic rights responsibly.
