Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) protested at the crossing near Ramjas College in Delhi University’s North Campus against SFI’s violence and torture against J.S. Siddharthan of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Science University situated in Kerala’s Wayanad district on Tuesday. ABVP demands immediate investigation and stringent action against the perpetrators of the violence who compelled the student to commit suicide. ABVP strongly condemns the power-hungry party CPI(M) and its affiliated Students Federation of India, who are seen to relentlessly and continuously commit acts of violence, corruption, and molestation. ABVP condemns the lack of investigation against these people as well as demand an investigation into the same.
It is to be noted that Kerala Veterinary and Animal Science University’s second-year student J.S. Siddharthan was found dead on 18th February in Wayanad Campus Hostel’s washroom. Investigation revealed that J.S. Siddharthan’s body contained marks of cable wire, belt, and also that the SFI hooligans paraded him naked in the college hostel. After this incident, J.S. Siddharthan’s body was found hanging in the Hostel’s washroom. After the incident, Kerala’s various units of ABVP protested at various educational institutions and demanded justice for J.S. Siddharthan against the SFI criminals.
Delhi University Student Union joint secretary Sachin Baisla, stated, “The leftist student union SFI has a long criminal history. Kerala’s educational institutions have turned into a safe haven for these criminals bred by CPI(M). Siddharthan’s case in Kerala and the ragging that led to his suicide bring back the danger that SFI and other leftist groups bring into the educational institutions’ campuses. SFI’s involvement in the criminal activities in Kerala underlines the criminal history of these unions. ABVP today burnt the effigy of SFI in Delhi University’s campus in protest against criminals of SFI as well as demanded a speedy and strict investigation against the perpetrators of this incident so that such unfortunate incidents don’t repeat.”
ABVP DU Unit’s Secretary, Saumya Varma, stated, “ABVP is protesting against this incident in many educational institutions across this country to demand justice for J.S. Siddharthan. This incident is extremely shameful as well as unfortunate. SFI’s goons are relentlessly trying to pollute the peace in educational institutions with their violent behavior. SFI under the safety of the Government of Kerala is pushing towards the destruction of democratic institutions as well as encouraging hooliganism and criminal activities on the campuses.”
Delhi University Students Union Secretary Aprajita as well as hundreds of members of ABVP were present at the site of protest.
