Swayamsiddha 2025 : More than 600 female students felicitated for their exceptional achievements in various fields

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad-led Delhi University Students’ Union on Wednesday organized Swayamsiddha 2025 at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi, to felicitate female students for their exceptional achievements in various fields. The event was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Rubika Liyaquat, and Special Guest Monika Arora, along with ABVP National Organizing Secretary Ashish Chauhan, Central Working Committee member of ABVP Nidhi Tripathi Bahuguna, Delhi University Students’ Union Vice President Bhanupratap Singh, and DUSU Secretary Mitravinda Karanwal.

During the event, more than 600 female students, who have demonstrated excellence in various fields, were felicitated with certificates of appreciation and mementos.

Chief Guest Rubika Liyaquat, in her address, said:

“Witnessing the energy and passion of these young female students at Swayamsiddha is truly inspiring and fills me with pride as a woman. Today is a joyous day of celebration for all students. On this special occasion, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the ABVP-led DUSU. I would urge every student here to dream big and work relentlessly with strong determination to achieve their goals. If the girls sitting in the last row want to reach the front row, there is only one mantra – be passionate about your dreams. Every woman embodies the divine qualities of Goddess Durga, Kali, and Saraswati.Never feel dejected when you face debacles, and don’t get overly excited when you secure a win – these are just phases of life.Further, I am also conveying my warmest wishes to all students for a brighter future, and I firmly believe that one day you all will make this nation proud.”

Special Guest & Supreme Court lawyer Monika Arora stated:

“It is an honor to be here at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, and it brings back fond memories of my college days. Across the world, especially in Western nations, the value and potential of women have been consistently undermined and objectified. They consider themselves superior, civilized, and intelligent, however, they deprived women of the right to franchise for several years.

In contrast, Bharat, after gaining Independence from the draconian rule of the Britishers, took a monumental step by granting equal voting rights to both men and women. In my opinion, instead of being blindly fascinated with Bollywood celebrities, Indian women should draw inspiration from remarkable figures like Devi Ubhay Bharati, who showcased unparalleled intellectual prowess in her Shastrarth (scholarly debate) with Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya and secured victory for her spouse Mandan Mishra.”

ABVP National Organizing Secretary Ashish Chauhan said:

“Every woman embodies boundless potential and strength and deserves reverence in the public domain. ABVP has always raised the demand to set up effective Internal Complaint Committees, Women’s Cells, and Quick Response Teams on college campuses to resolve the gruesome issues affecting them. It is inevitable for a safe and secure environment for students.

Vidyarthi Parishad firmly believes that students are not citizens of tomorrow but of today and are capable of navigating the nation towards progress. Further, ABVP is the only organization that not only respects the power of women but also attempts to awaken the inherent leadership potential and provides them with platforms to excel. While Western nations radically talk about the liberation of women, Bharat always speaks of the awakening of women to conquer new heights. I extend respectful salutations to all female students present here.”

Delhi University Students’ Union Vice President Bhanupratap Singh stated:

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all my sisters who have attended this event despite the heavy rainfall. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has consistently advocated for the struggles of female students and will continue to do so. Some organizations make promises regarding women’s safety, but their actions on college campuses—carrying belts and resorting to hooliganism—reveal their true nature. Their slogan ‘I am a girl, I can fight’ is merely a theoretical statement, and in practice, their messages are nothing but empty rhetoric.

The students of Delhi University are intelligent and have understood the distinction between superficial promises and actions. I extend my sincere congratulations to all my sisters who have been honored today. I hope you will continue contributing to the nation’s service and actively participate in the upcoming student union elections by casting your valuable vote.

Delhi University Students’ Union Secretary Mitravinda Karanwal stated:

“I would like to convey my sincere gratitude to the esteemed chief guests, Rubika Liyaqat and Monika Arora, for gracing this event with their presence and sharing their insights with the student community. The ‘Swayamsiddha’ program, which commenced in 2014, has witnessed a remarkable turnout of over 1,500 female students at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, demonstrating that the empowerment of women is steadily advancing. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has always endeavored to empower female students through various initiatives such as Madari, Mission Sahasi, and Swayamsiddha, consistently lighting the path for their progress.

To all the sisters who have been honored today, I hope that you continue your journey of growth and achieve your desired goals in life. I am confident that the ‘Swayamsiddha’ program will bring about positive transformations in your lives.”
