ABVP Launches PG Outreach Drive After Satya Niketan Tragedy, Begins Citywide Safety Audit

New Delhi: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Delhi Wednesday launched a PG outreach campaign under its ‘Aakhir Kab Tak?’ initiative in the wake of the tragic Satya Niketan incident. As part of the campaign, ABVP karyakartas visited PG accommodations in student-dominated areas and urged students to conduct a self-safety audit of their PGs by scanning the QR code available on nomoresatyaniketan.in.

The campaign aims to collect ground-level information on structural, fire and other safety-related deficiencies in PGs and other student accommodations. The data collected through the campaign will be compiled by ABVP and the identified issues will be taken up with the concerned authorities, seeking time-bound corrective action.

ABVP is working towards ensuring 100% structural and fire-safety audits of PGs and other student accommodations in student-dominated areas, along with strict compliance with all prescribed safety norms. Meanwhile, ABVP’s agitation demanding accountability for the Satya Niketan tragedy and the resignation of the MCD Commissioner continues. The ‘Student Safety March’ organised yesterday witnessed the participation of around 10,000 students.

Tribute Meeting Held in Memory of Deceased Students

A tribute meeting was also organised in memory of the students who lost their lives in the Satya Niketan tragedy. ABVP National Organising Secretary Ashish Chauhan, National Joint Organising Secretary Govind Nayak, Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Mahasangh National General Secretary and NCWEB Director Prof. Geeta Bhatt, Delhi University Deputy Proctor Prof. Saurabh, University and College Employees Council Central General Secretary Manoj Tyagi, Rajasthan Leaders Association President Mahavir Singh, along with representatives of various student and teacher organisations, paid tribute to the deceased students and expressed solidarity with their families.

ABVP Delhi State Secretary Sarthak Sharma said, “For students living away from their families, a PG is not merely a place to stay; it is their home during their years of education. Basic safety cannot be treated as a matter of paperwork or routine compliance. Through this campaign, we are taking the issue directly to students and documenting the gaps that exist on the ground. ABVP will use this data to push the concerned authorities for concrete corrective measures and greater accountability. Student safety must become a non-negotiable priority for every institution and authority responsible for student accommodations.”
