ABVP welcomes the decision of the Egmore Court of granting bail to the former National President of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Dr. Subbaiah Shanmugam, upholding the spirit of law, who was imprisoned by the Government of Tamil Nadu by immoral use of constitutional powers.
It should be noted that on 19th March, 2022 , because of vindictive politics of DMK government, Dr. Shanmugam was called for questioning in a case which was mutually settled two years ago. Subsequently he was was arrested and remanded Judicial Custody for 14 days. Earlier also, there have been attempts to target Dr Subbaiah Shanmugam by the administration when he was suspended from his duties without any explanatory reason.
ABVP’s National General Secretary Nidhi Tripathi said, “Atrocious steps are being taken by the Tamil Nadu government to suppress the demand for justice in the Lavanya case. The retaliatory action of arresting Dr. Subbaiah Shanmugam and putting him in jail is also a part of this chain of vindictive events. But we are thankful to the court for not allowing the wrong intentions of the government to succeed.”
