New Delhi : ABVP held a massive protest on Tuesday against West Bengal Government in lieu of the Sandeshkhali violence. ABVP demands a strict action against the perpetrators of the violence at the earliest.
It is to be noted that in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali situated in North 24 Paraganas district, the power hungry Trinamool Congress Party’s leaders have been engaging in sexual assault of women and land grabbing since a long time. ABVP launched a nationwide protest against the West Bengal Government. On Tuesday, ABVP launched a massive protest at the Banga Bhavan in New Delhi and demanded a strict and speedy investigation of the incident and bring the victims to justice. ABVP states that the West Bengal Government has turned completely corrupt which only aids the goons in the state who exploit people and violate women.
ABVP has submitted a five point memorandum to the President stating that by taking into notice about the involvement of State Government, the investigation should be handed over to the central agencies prioritising the speedy and impartial investigation of the incident and bringing the victims to justice. The violence and violation against women in Sandeshkhali should come to an end. A helpline number should be launched so that people can reach out to governmental and judicial institutions. The victims should be provided legal aid to fight for their justice. The women should also be provided with psychiatric centres to cope up with years of mental trauma and agony. We have also stated that central forces should be stationed for the creation of a fearless Sandeshkhali.
ABVP Delhi Secretary Harsh Atri said – “West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali incident is heart-wrenching. To witness such an incident against women in a state ruled by woman, it shows Mamta Banerjee’s whims and fancies against women and deprived people. The lack of investigation against the mastermind of this event Shaik Shahjahan shows the government’s involvement in saving the skin of looters and rapists. We launched a massive protest in front of Banga Bhavan in New Delhi demanding strict and speedy investigation against the perpetrators of the violence.”
Delhi University Students Union Secretary Aparajita said – “We held a massive protest against West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali incident at Banga Bhavan in New Delhi. This incident shows Mamta Banerjee’s Government’s priorities that lie with saving the goons and rapists in the state. No action against the main accused Shaik Shahjahan also raises questions about the law and order in the state. We won’t sit silent until the women of Sandeshkhali get justice.”
In the protest, Delhi University Students Union President Tushar Dedha, Secretary Aparajita, Joint Secretary Sachin Baisla, and students from various colleges in Delhi University were present.
