Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today submitted a memorandum to the Secretary of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Prof. Shyama Rath, urging immediate intervention in the undue delay in the release of the UGC NET June 2026 provisional answer key and results. The memorandum requests the UGC to direct the National Testing Agency (NTA) to release the provisional answer key and declare the results at the earliest, stating that the delay is causing widespread uncertainty among lakhs of aspirants across the country.
The UGC NET examination, conducted from June 22 to June 30, 2026, determines eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor, admission to Ph.D. programmes, and the award of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). While the provisional answer key is ordinarily released within days of the examination to allow candidates to submit objections before the declaration of results, more than a month has elapsed since the examination concluded without any official update from the NTA. ABVP noted that the absence of both the provisional answer key and an official explanation has created anxiety among candidates and disrupted their academic and professional planning. Through the memorandum, ABVP has demanded the immediate publication of the provisional answer key, timely declaration of results, a public clarification regarding the reasons for the delay, and the establishment of a transparent and fixed timeline for future national examinations to ensure greater accountability and predictability.
Speaking on the issue, Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki, National General Secretary, ABVP, said, “The credibility of any national examination depends on transparency, timeliness, and accountability. The prolonged delay in releasing the UGC NET provisional answer key and results has left lakhs of aspirants in uncertainty, directly affecting their academic, research, and career aspirations. ABVP believes that timely conduct of examination processes and regular official communication are essential to maintaining students’ confidence. We have urged the UGC to ensure the immediate release of the answer key and results, provide a public explanation for the delay, and institutionalise a transparent timeline for future examinations.”
