New Delhi : Under the leadership of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad students of G. B. Pant Engineering College affiliated to DSEU staged a massive protest against the sudden fee hike from ₹1,34,000 to ₹1,76,000, lack of basic amenities and authoritarian attitude of administration. Due to repeated ignorance of demands and expulsion threats, the college was locked down and protest continued for several hours. During the protest the students also submitted a memorandum to the Director demanding an immediate solution to the issues.
ABVP has made it clear that until the fee hike is rolled back and corrupt administration stops its anti student policies the agitation will continue. Students have also said that they will not pay the hiked fee until the decision is revoked.
ABVP Delhi State Secretary Sarthak Sharma stated, “The unexpected fee hike at DSEU is deeply concerning for students. They are not only struggling with fee hike but are also deprived of basic amenities. Today, under the leadership of ABVP, hundreds of students have protested. After a long demonstration the students placed their demands before the Director who assured prompt attention. The issue of fee hike has been raised today and we will also protest against Vice-Chancellor in the coming days. ABVP will continue this fight, hand in hand with the students until this arbitrary fee hike is rolled back.”
